Inspect the shelter on a regular basis.
Shelters experience wear and tear over time. That’s why it’s important to inspect them on a regular basis. Take a look at the shelter and assess its structural integrity. Is it bowing at all? Are all the supports acting as they should? Are there any rips or tears in the fabric? By taking a closer look at the shelter, you can nip problems in the bud before they become worse. In addition, you’ll help insure the safety of your animals.
Place the shelter in a suitable location.
When you first install your shelter, always make sure that it’s in a suitable location. For example, you likely don’t want to put your shelter beneath a lot of trees. Instead, put it in an area that doesn’t have a lot of cover. That way there’s less chance of debris hitting it, and it also gives your animals an area to seek shelter during rain or other inclement conditions.
Get the shelter that’s appropriate to your needs.
If you just have one horse, you’re not going to need a shelter that’s the size for ten horses. Similarly, if you have 10 horses, you’re going to want to get a larger shelter. When you’re first looking at animal shelters, consider how many animals you have, and how much property you have to work with. Also consider what you’re using the shelter for in the first place
If you keep these tips in mind, you’ll be able to use your animal shelter for years to come, and also have one that’s right for your animals. If you’re interested in one of our shelters, give us a call or check out what we have available on our website.
